DESCRIPTION: My mother lives with my family and wants a private escape. She wants to add some pizzazz with a bedroom makeover. She loves grays and admires glamorous room photos in magazines. She’s ready for a change and wants to buy all new furniture, bedding, etc. The room is 12 ft wide by 9½ ft deep with original hard wood floors and a walk in closet in the far right corner. We want her to be comfortable… and of course, glamorous.

  1. Clear the room and paint the walls a soft gray using Benjamin Moore – Cumulus Cloud. The ceiling should be painted a soft white color.
  2. Consider replacing the old windows and door with new 6′ French doors. Hang gray basketweave window panels for privacy and sun control.
  3. Replace the too large queen size bed with a full size, Palermo Wingback upholstered bed in gray with nailhead trim.
  4. Purchase the Echo Odyssey Comforter Set with a neutral paisley design.
  5. Use two Wood Tiled nightstands and the matching 3-drawer dresser in the room.
  6. Purchase two matching and sophisticated Crystal Lizard Print table lamps.
  7. Install a Flat Screen TV across from the bed above a white floating wall shelf.
  8. For additional seating, add a comfortable chair in Butterscotch color fabric.
  9. Anchor the room with a 5×8 Marquis Rug from West Elm.
  10. Pull everything together with the Peacock Tree Gliclee artwork from Ballard Designs.
